Wow! What a knockout from Cung Le we witnessed today against Rich Franklin in the main event of ‘UFC on Fuel TV 6’.

Le had actually appeared somewhat hesitant in the opening stages while Franklin was getting to work with outside leg kicks while working his jab and throwing the occasional combination of punches.

The course of the fight changed in an instant though mid-way through the round. Franklin had just landed another leg kick and was looking for a hook, but Le beat him to it, landing a right hook of it’s own and it landed flush, knocking ‘Ace’ out instantly causing him to fall face first to the canvas with just 2.17mins on the clock.

This was undoubtedly one of the knockouts of the year and a huge feather in the cap of Le, claiming the biggest win of his career despite coming in as the underdog.

As for Franklin, such a devastating defeat in what was supposed to be a triumphant return to the 185lb division he once reigned over will be hard to take, and at the age of 38 you have to wonder if he’ll now be seriously considering retiring from the sport.
