Dana White Confirms Things Are Looking Up For Jon Jones

Jon Jones Emotional Press Conference

Earlier this week Jon Jones hinted that he might not be facing a two year drug suspension after all, and now UFC president Dana White has confirmed that things are happening behind the scenes.

Just days prior to UFC 200 last month, Jones was pulled from UFC 200 after he failed a drug test, with reports later emerging that he had tested positive for two estrogen blockers.

However, White says that new facts have emerged that change the complexion of the case.

“It’s coming back now that it looks like he did not take the supplement that everybody thought he took,” White stated on ‘The Jim Rome Show’ yesterday. “We’ll see how this thing plays out. I don’t even know if this is public. I don’t even know if I can talk about it. Normally, I’ll talk about anything, but when it comes to medical stuff, you can’t do it. But it’s looking like Jon Jones did not take the drug that everybody thought he took. It looks like it’s something else.”

However, White indicated that Jones may still not get off without some kind of punishment for the substance he did test positive for.

“Where he doesn’t come off clean is, you have to tell USADA everything you put in your body leading up to the fight – and he did not.”

In a separate interview with ESPN, White joked that the troubled fighter had “12 lives,” and if he gets himself out of his current predicament then that certainly would seem to be the case.

In addition to his current drug issues, Jones also narrowly avoided a prison sentence relating to a hit-and-run incident last year, while he’s been in trouble with the law numerous other times, but has always somehow managed to escape serious punishment.
