Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team have recently been talking up the idea that the star will only return to the Octagon for an enormous $50 million payday after defeating Conor McGregor, but Dana White isn’t taking them seriously.
“Sure,” White said sarcastically when asked about the possibility of that happening at the UFC 232 press conference. “Come on! They know what’s realistic for them. They know the answer to that question. It’s fun to say though, $50 million.”
McGregor has claimed to have been in that ballpark figure for the fight with Nurmagomedov however after estimated PPV sales were taken into account, and it seems he’s still eager to return to the Octagon again in the not-too-distant future.
“Conor and I talked for an hour last week,” White revealed. “Typical Conor. ‘I would love an immediate rematch. I want to fight him again but I’ll fight whoever I gotta fight to get back to him if that’s not the case.’”
However, before McGregor or Nurmagomedov can return they will have to first go in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission next month to find out whether their current suspensions will be extended for a longer period due to their actions in a post-fight brawl that occurred inside and outside of the Octagon following the conclusion of UFC 229.
