Hawaii has been a dream destination for a UFC event for many years that has so far had to be put on the backburner due to a lack of infrastructure, but according to Dana White that might be about to change.

When asked in a new interview where he would love to host an event, Dana White immediately namechecked Hawaii, and explained why he believes it may finally become a reality in the next year or two.

“One of our biggest markets since day one has been Hawaii and we’ve still never put on an event in Hawaii,” White said on The Rich Eisen Show. “We’ve had multiple world champions from Hawaii. The infrastructure there can’t support a UFC event. But now they’re building a new arena there. Supposed to be done in [2028, 2029].

“I like destinations where people [want to go]. When we do UFC Hawaii, people will lose their minds. Who doesn’t want to go to UFC Hawaii?  And every staff member I have working is going to want to work that event.

“So off the top of my head you firing that at me, when I think about UFC Hawaii, that will be a fun one.”

Despite it just being a desirable location in general, Hawaii also has strong ties to the UFC thanks to the likes of BJ Penn, who was one of the biggest stars of his generation, and of course Max Holloway, who remains one of the most popular fighters on the current roster.
