Demetrious Johnson Campaigning To Defend His 125lb Title At UFC On FOX 8

UFC On FOX 8 has only just been announced for July 27th in Seattle, and already flyweight champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson is campaigning to secure the main event spot on the card.

Johnson is currently out recovering from a torn labrum injury, but expects to return in the summer and sees this event as the perfect spot for his next title defense.

“Spread the word, I want the UFC on FOX 8 headline spot if it hasn’t been filled yet,” Johnson told MMAfighting.com.

Johnson was originally scheduled to face John Moraga at the TUF 17 Finale on April 13th before pulling out due to his injury, so if he can now land a spot headlining ‘UFC On FOX 8’ instead then that would be a big upgrade.

The UFC’s first ever 125lb champion has already proven he can successfully headline one of these events with ‘UFC On FOX 6’ drawing an average of 4.2 million viewers with Johnson Vs John Dodson topping the bill, though they were supported by a strong cast of fighters on the main card.
