Fired-Up Conor McGregor Tells Boxing Media He’ll Take Over Their Sport

Conor McGregor was in attendance at Madison Square Garden in New York City last night for Irish Olympic boxer Michael Conlan’s professional boxing debut and while ring-side he had a few choice words for scribes of the sweet science.

After Conlan’s win, a fired-up McGregor approached press row and began yelling at ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael in particular.

“You’re the boxing guy?” McGregor asked Rafael.  “I’m the boxing guy. Watch me take over boxing.  Trust me on that. No one in this boxing game knows what’s coming. Trust me on that. When I step in there, I’m going to shock the whole goddamn world. Trust me on that. Look me in the eyes. Twenty-eight years of age, confident as a motherf*cker, long, rangy, dangerous with every hand. Trust me, I’m going to stop Floyd and you’re all going to eat your words. The whole world is going to eat their words.”

Another reporter interjected to enquire if McGregor was going to fight boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr, to which he replied, “We’re getting close, don’t worry about it.  You’ll hear about it. I’m out of here. I am boxing.”

McGregor had been keeping a relatively low profile lately by his standards, while Floyd Mayweather Jr had been leading the charge in campaigning for the fight to happen sooner rather than later.

With UFC President Dana White also confirming on the Conan show earlier this week that he can’t see the boxing mega-fight not happening, it seems not to be only a matter of time before it does become a reality.
