Holly Holm’s fifth round TKO victory against Juliana Werner at Legacy FC 30 on Friday night now looks more impressive given that it’s emerged that she broke her arm early in the fight.
That would explain why Holm was favoring her kicks even more than normal, and why she didn’t put Werner away as quickly as some observers felt she could have despite there appearing to be a gulf in class between them.
Holm continued on the offensive despite her injury though and her perseverance eventually paid off though when she landed a flush head kick mid-way through the final round of the fight before finishing off her opponent with a flurry of right hands – suggesting it was her left arm that suffered the break.
Holm is on the verge of big things with a UFC deal still being a possibility despite initial talks breaking down over financial matters, and there’s also been talk about the possibility of fighting Cris ‘Cyborg’ in a non-UFC PPV event, so hopefully the broken arm doesn’t keep her out of action for too long.
