A welterweight fight between Ian Machado Garry and Yaroslav Amasov has been announced as the co-main event for the UFC Fight Night 295 event in Riyadh, Suadi Arabia on December 5th.
The 28-year-old Garry is coming off an unsuccessful attempt to seize the welterweight title from Islam Makhachev, losing out by unanimous decision back in August.
Garry had gone 10-1 in the UFC prior to that loss, beating the likes of Belal Muhammad, Carlos Prates, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Geoff Neal and Neil Magny along the way, and as such he still holds the No.2 spot on the 170lb rankings heading into his next fight.
As for the 33-year-old Amasov, he arrived in the UFC after an 8-1 run in the Bellator promotion late last year and has since won back-to-back fights in the Octagon.
That includes an anaconda choke submission win over Neil Magny, followed by an arm-triangle choke finish of Joel Alvarez, leaving him ranked No.13.
Garry vs. Amasov will serve as the lead-in to a UFC Fight Night 295 main event between Israel Adesanya and Shara Magomedov, while Sergey Spivak vs. Mario Pinto is also on the line up for the penultimate event on the UFC’s 2026 calendar.
