UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk successfully underwent surgery on a broken thumb in the past week and she’s now looking ahead to who her next opponent may be, and she already has someone in mind.
Speaking on The MMA Hour show, Jędrzejczyk says she wants a rematch with Claudia Gadehla who she defeated by a controversial split decision ruling back in December of last year.
It was an extremely close fight the first time around and ended on a sour note with both fighters appearing to land blows after the final bell, so it was only ever a matter of time before they got back into the Octagon again to settle their differences, and this time the Polish star is convinced things will plsy out differently.
“I’m a different fighter right now,” Jędrzejczyk said. “Claudia Gadelha, she takes a few steps back. She hasn’t fought for a long time. I’m different now, I’m going to win easy this time. I”m better. Now I know I have KO power, my wrestling ia different, getting better and better. I really can play on the ground even better than before.”
Jędrzejczyk has picked up TKO wins over Carla Esparza and Jessica Penne since that fight, picking up a lot of fans along the way due to her clinical boxing technique, while Gadelha has been on the sidelines so far this year dealing with a back injury, but still remains ranked No.2 in the division.
