Joanne Calderwood will move back down to the woman’s strawweight division for her next fight with Jessica Andrade, which has been announced for UFC 203 on September 10th in Cleveland.
The 29 year-old Calderwood enjoyed her best performance in the Octagon to date last time out at UFC Fight Night 89 last month, taking out Valerie Letourneau by TKO in the third round.
That bout had been contested at 125lbs in an apparent test-case for a future woman’s flyweight division, but for now it appears that was just a one-off, and so she’ll return to 115lbs, where she’s currently compiled a 2-1 record and is ranked No.7.
That’s one place below her opponent Andrade, who has spent most of her UFC run so far at bantamweight, producing a 4-3 record, but dropped down to strawweight for her most recent fight with Jessica Penne at UFC 199 in June and emerged victorious by a second round TKO.
Calderwood Vs Andrade joins a UFC 203 fight card that’s set to be headlined by Cleveland native Stipe Miocic’s first heavyweight title defense against Alistair Overeem, while former champ Fabricio Werdum Vs Ben Rothwell is expected to serve as the evening’s co-main event.
The event will also feature the debut of former WWE pro-wrestling superstar CM Punk who fights Mickey Gall, while Urijah Faber will be back in action against Jimmie Rivera.
