Jon Jones Broken Toe Injury Pictures And Medical Update

Jon Jones suffered a freak accident in the Octagon last night at UFC 159, severely breaking the big toe on his left foot, but luckily for him no-one, including himself, noticed until after he had defeated Chael Sonnen by first round TKO to retain his title.

It’s still not exactly clear when the injury took place, but it went unnoticed that his toe had broken and was pointing in the wrong direction until he began his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

after Rogan found him a chair to sit on Jones bravely soldiered on through his interview while doctors looked at the extent of the injury.

It’s believed that his toe suffered an open fracture, leaving the bone exposed, but as you’ll see from the pictures below after a trip to the hospital doctor’s were able to put it back in place and sew it up.

As a result of the injury Jones has received an indefinite medical suspension, though it’s been suggested that it could be around three months before he’s able to train again.

If Jones did indeed suffer the injury during the fight then he dodged a bullet as despite his insistence at the post-fight press conference that he would have fought on, Dana White confirmed that had they noticed the cage-side doctor’s would have had no option but to end the contest due to the severity of the damage which would have resulted in a thoroughly undeserved TKO win for Sonnen.
