Jorge Masvidal is only a few days removed from his latest victory at ‘UFC On FOX 8’ over Michael Chiesa, but he’s already signed up for his next UFC encounter.
Masvidal will now face a tough test against Rustam Khabilov at an as yet unannounced ‘Fight Night’ card on FOX Sports 1 in November.
The Russian-born Khabilov has impressed so far in his two fights in the UFC, picking up a pair of stoppage victories thanks in no small part to his penchant for airmailing his opponents around the Octagon by way of suplex. He hurt Vince Pichel with the maneouver before finishing him off with punches and then pulled off another one against Yancy Medeiros, the impact of which left his opponent unable to continue after fracturing his thumb.
Masvidal’s also picked up back-to-back wins since joining the UFC from Strikeforce, first earning a decision victory over Tim Means before submitting TUF winner Chiesa on Saturday night.
The UFC had originally been hoping to match Khabilov with Edson Barboza , but the Brazilian turned the fight down. Not to worry though as this fight with Masvidal looks like being a very good alternative.
