It has emerged that former long-time UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo recently signed a new eight-fight with the promotion.
Aldo had been talking for some time about retiring when his previous deal came to a conclusion, but it seems that he’s since had a change of heart and so the 32-year-old will remain in the Octagon for the forseeable future.
Aldo’s deal was actually signed prior to his last fight with Jacob Volkanovski in May, which he lost by unanimous decision.
That came after Aldo had claimed back-to-back TKO victories over Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano.
Aside from Volkanovski, Aldo’s only lost to two other men in the past 14 years – current 145lb kingpin Max Holloway (twice) and Conor McGregor, while his list of victims reads like a who’s who of the division, including Frankie Edgar (twice), Chad Mendes (twice), The Korean Zombie, Urijah Faber, Kenny Florian, Ricardo Lamas, Cub Swanson, Mike Brown and more.
Prior to the defeat against Volkanovski, Aldo had been targetting another title shot before hanging up his gloves and it’s likely that will still remain an overriding goal during his newly extended contract.
