Junior Dos Santos Reported To Have Split From Wife Prior To UFC 155 Defeat

After his loss to Cain Velsquez at UFC 155 in December former heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos blamed “personal problems” for his performance and it turns out there may have been more to that than we first thought.

In an interview on Brazilian website Dos Santos revealed that prior to the fight he had split from his wife of 10 years, Vilsana Piccozi.

“She is the most important person in my life and is the person who cares for me and I want to take care of her forever. But I do not love her any more as a woman,” JDS stated.

No doubt that would have taken an emotional toll on him, though it has to be noted that Dos Santos actually came into the fight looking to be in hist best physical shape ever. The reality is that regardless of his out-of-cage issues he got rocked early with a big punch and never seemed able to fully shake the effects of that off.

Nonetheless, this is only going to fuel people’s interest in seeing a third fight between the two men at some stage in the not too distant future to prove once and for all who the better fighter is, and I’m certainly all for that.
