Justin Tafa vs. Austen Lane Ends Swiftly By No-Contest Due To Eye-Poke At UFC On ABC 5

Justin Tafa suffered a bad eye-poke from Austen Lane less than 30 seconds into their main card fight at UFC On ABC 5 today, leading to a no-contest ruling after a doctor ruled him unable to continue.

Round One:

Tafa stalking Lane early, but then eats a solid body kick.

Lane misses a straight right and then reaches out with his left hand in close and causes a nasty eyepoke that Tafa reacts in pain too.

He’s given time to recover, but he’s bleeding from his eye and seems to be saying he’s having problems seeing. The ref is giving him plenty of time to recover and he’s sitting on the stool now, but the doctor seems skeptical of his ability to continue.

Two minutes left of his recovery period and Tafa’s eye looks a mess, with his lower eyelid very badly swollen and leaves little doubt this fight isn’t going to continue.

And that’s a wrap, the fight ends by no-contest only 29 seconds of the fight on the advice of the doctor due to that bad eye-poke.
