Kevin Holland Hints He’s Retiring In Instagram Post

Kevin Holland appears to have hinted that he may be considering early retirement from MMA in his latest post on Instagram.

“Had a good run. 30 in a little over a week. Got paid I’m out,” Holland wrote on the social media platform. “Next career choice?”

Holland’s comments comes just a couple of weeks after he agreed to fight Khamzat Chimaev on just a days notice at UFC 279, resulting in a submission loss just over two minutes into the fight.

Holland had originally been scheduled to fight Daniel Rodriguez in a 180lb catchweight, and was the favorite in that match-up after having won his last two fights in a row, but he was a heavy underdog when the card was switched up at the last minute, leaving him facing one of the sport’s most highly rated stars.

Despite the loss, Holland had given no indication after the fight that he had any intention of calling time on his career, instead stating a day later that he wanted a striking battle for his next fight, suggesting either Stephen Thompson or Daniel Rodriguez as his preferred options.

That, together with the fact that Holland is somewhat of a larger-than-life character, will leave many to question whether he’s really serious about calling time on his career, with a record that currently stands at 23-8 (+1nc).
