Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal has a new opponent for Bellator’s Season 11 premiere on September 5th after Tom DeBlass pulled out due to a knee injury.
King Mo will now fight Marcus Sursa in the co-main event of the evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Conneticut.
A former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, King Mo came up short in his bid to become Bellator’s Season 10 light-heavyweight champion against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson on the promotion’s first ever pay-per-view card, losing out by a controversial unanimous decision ruling.
Sursa will return to the Bellator cage for the first time in four years, with his only other appearance for the organization ending in a TKO loss against Eddie Sanchez.
Since then Sursa has fought for a number of regional promotions, producing a 5-2 record in the process, and is currently on a two-fight winning streak.
Bellator 123 airs on Spike TV and will go head-to-head with the UFC Fight Night 50 which takes place on the same evening on FOX Sports 1 just a few miles away at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
No doubt with that in mind, Bellator today announced that their main card will kick off an hour earlier than normal at 8pm on Spike TV which will give them an hours head start over the UFC on FS1.
Bellator 123 is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Pat Curran and Patricio Freire, while UFC fight Night 50 fields Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza Vs Gegard Mousasi in the main event, while Alistair Overeem takes on Ben Rothwell in the co-main event.
