Matt Mitrione Vs Gabe Gonzaga Set For UFC On FOX 13

UFC On FOX 13 now has three heavyweight bouts on deck with Matt Mitrione Vs Gabe Gonzaga also being announced for the event in Arizona on December 13th.

Mitrione is coming off a 41 second KO victory against Derrick Lewis just a couple of weeks ago at UFC Fight Night 50, and following on from another first round knockout win against Shawn Jordan it would seem that the former TUF fighter is on the verge of pushing into the official heavyweight top 15 rankings.

Gonzaga is already there, currently placed at No.12 even though he actually lost his last fight against Stipe Miocic by unanimous decision back in January.

Like Mitrione he had claimed two first round KO victories over Shawn Jordan and Dave Herman prior to that, so the chances of a stoppage due to strikes when these two heavyweights meet in December is high, though Gonzaga’s superior ground skills could also play a big factor in the match-up too if the Brazilian looks to play it safe and fight more strategically.

UFC On FOX 13 is now shaping up to be a heavyweight showcase with the main event now confirmed as Junior dos Santos Vs Stipe Miocic, while Alistair Overeem Vs Stefan Struve is also expected to feature on the main card of the show.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
