Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua Vs Gian Villante Targeted For UFC Fight Night 107

A light-heavyweight fight between Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Gian Villante is reportedly in the works for UFC Fight Night 107 in Brazil on March 11th.

Not so long ago, ‘Shogun’s’ career had threatened to derail completely after winning just once in five fights.

However, he’s since turned things around with decision victories over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Corey Anderson and is currently placed at No.7 in the official 205lb rankings.

Now the Brazilian star will square up to Villante, who has been alternating between wins and losses for the past couple of years, producing a 3-2 run that’s left him ranked at No.13 in the division.

The bout is yet to be officially confirmed, but if it goes ahead it’ll join a card that will be headlined by a middleweight encounter between another Brazilian veteran Vitor Belfort and Kelvin Gastelum.

The event will also feature another meaningful bout in the lightweight division as Edson Barboza goes up against Beneil Dariush.
