Maycee ‘The Future’ Barber’s next fight will be against Miranda Maverick at UFC Fight Night 193 on July 24th.
A hotly tipped prospect who first surfaced via the Contender Series, the still only 22-year-old Barber began her UFC run strongly with three TKO victories in a row against Hannah Cifers, JJ Aldrich and Gillian Robertson.
That put Barber firmly on the flyweight map, but she has found the going tougher in more recent times, suffering unanimous decision losses against both Roxanne Modafferi and Alexa Grasso, and as such has now slid to No.14 on the 125lb rankings.
Now Barber will try to get back on track against another promising young up-and-comer in the 23-year-old Maverick, who joined the UFC from Invicta FC last year after a win over former UFC fighter Pearl Gonzalez.
So far Maverick has racked up two wins in the Octagon, beginning with a TKO victory against Liana Jojua last October and then just a couple of weeks ago she secured a unanimous decision victory against Gillian Robertson, which enabled her to take the No.15 spot on the flyweight ladder.
Barber vs. Maverick joins a UFC Fight Night 193 card that will also feature another newly announced women’s bout between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson.
