A women’s flyweight fight between Maycee Barber and Montana De La Rosa is believed to be in the works for UFC 269 in December.
Barber is known as ‘The Future’, and she certainly appeared to be living up to her nickname early in her UFC career as she racked up three TKO wins in a row to start her time in the promotion after an initial TKO victory in the Contender Series.
However, back-to-back decision losses against Roxanne Modafferi and Alexa Grasso had put the 23-year-old under pressure to prove that she was still a force to be reckoned with.
Fortunately she did manage to get back on track last time out against Miranda Maverick, albeit narrowly by split decision, and she’ll now be looking to continue to build on that and improve upon her current No.13 spot on the 125lb rankings.
As for De La Rosa, she hasn’t had the same fan-fare as Barber in the UFC so far, but the 26-year-old has put together a 5-2-1 record so far in the Octagon.
That includes a win over Ariane Lipski last time out, which helped her secure the No.15 spot on the flyweight ladder.
Barber vs. De La Rosa will join a UFC 269 card that will also feature a bantamweight title fight between dominant woman’s champion Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena, while Cody Garbrandt moves down to flyweight to fight Kai Kara-France.
