Eight days from today, Conor McGregor makes his return to the octagon to face Donald Cerrone for UFC 246. The “Notorious” McGregor has been an iconic sports figure in the last decade making a name for himself in the MMA World, with the Irishman’s loudmouth approach making him a top media sensation.
Although McGregor’s last match in 2016 was a win achieved via the judges’ decision, but the odds for the matchup against Cerrone currently stand at McGregor -310 and Cerrone +240.

The 50 fight veteran said that the Irishman – who as of December 14, 2019, he is #13 in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings and #4 in the UFC lightweight rankings – should avoid talking about people like his child or grandmother for example.
He said:
“You understand what I’m saying? Then I’ll just come f–k you up in the lobby type s–t.”
Although, Cerrone is not necessarily against his trash talking and mind games. In fact, the “Cowboy” is all up for it as long as it is about the fight they are going to have on January 18, 2020.
The 36-year-old – who is ranked #5 in the UFC lightweight rankings – said:
“He understands that. We’re fighting, he can talk about that all he wants but don’t low blow.”
Surprisingly, the lead up to Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone has been mellow so far. The led up to the fight is seen as one of the most notable interactions the two fighters have had for the fight which all happened from a simple comment on social networking site Instagram.
Cerrone made a post on Instagram noting his achieved accolades in the world of MMA which also included his 23-win UFC record and 20 knockdowns. Under his Instagram post comes McGregor who gave his opponent a simple greeting and teaser for their fight:
“Good man Donald, enjoy the Christmas dinner. Happy holidays to you and the family, from the McGregor’s here in Ireland. See you in 20/20 with bullseye vision.”
Cerrone acknowledges that the Irishman is the best trash talker out there he has ever seen. Possibly even greater than Muhammad Ali. Trash-talking antics are part of McGregor’s strategy to have his foe’s fight more emotional whilst making it a must-see events for his fans and MMA enthusiastic. But few believes that Cowboy’s warning is a way of getting in McGregor’s head.
The silence from the Notorious ahead of this crucial meeting is striking a lot of concerns to fans. But some are saying that his might be a way not draw more attention to himself considering some recent allegations. Nonetheless, we should be expecting millions of people tuning in to UFC 246 to see McGregor’s return.
