New Fights Announced For Gabe Gonzaga, Liz Carmouche, Edson Barboza And Conor McGregor

There’s been a slew of fight announcements over the past few days so here’s a round-up of some of the notable one’s you may have missed.

First up, Gabriel Gonzaga has stepped in as a late replacement for Shane Del Rosario against Dave Herman at UFC 162 on July 6th.

Gonzaga lost by KO to Travis Browne back in April, while Herman is hanging onto his UFC career by his fingertips after three consecutive defeats.

An exciting lightweight match-up between strikers Edson Barboza and John Makdessi won’t go ahead as planned at UFC 162 after Makdessi picked up an injury.

Instead, Barboza will now fight fellow Brazilian Rafaello Oliveira with both men having come off a victory in their last Octagon outings.

After Miesha Tate was unveiled as a suprise coach at TUF 18 earlier this week, Liz Carmouche was left with an opponent for her fight at ‘UFC ON FOX 8’ on July 27th.

That’s since been rectified as she’ll now welcome the debuting Jessica Andrade to the Octagon instead at the event.

There’s definitely a buzz about Irish featherweight fighter Conor McGregor at the moment after he lived up to the hype in his UFC debut, but it appears the promotion are keen to let him progress at a measured pace rather than throwing him straight in with the division’s best.

With that in mind his next opponent will be former TUF fighter Andy Ogle who enjoyed a good win over Josh Grispi back in February.  The bout has been scheduled for ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1’ on August 17th.
