Apparently Nick Diaz is up to his old tricks again. The 29 year-old was all set to appear on ‘The Voice Versus’ show on AXS TV yesterday, but in predictable fashion things didn’t turn out as planned.
“@nickdiaz209 has no showed The Voice Versus. Nick you have let your fans down again… And me a big fan in particular. Unprofessional mate,” the host, commenator Michael Schiavello wrote on Twitter yesterday.
Schiavello had traveled to Diaz’s own hometown of Stockton for the interview, but even that wasn’t enough to ensure that he’d show up.
So, very much business as usual from Diaz then who infamously managed to get himself removed from a title fight with Georges St.Pierre at UFC 137 in 2011 after missing a media day and then failing to turn up to a pre-fight press conference.
Seemingly that wasn’t enough for Diaz to change his ways however as since then he’s been a no-show for everything from media days and pre-fight filming commitments through to a BJJ superfight event with Braulio Estima.
Despite his frustrations at the fighters attitude problems, UFC president Dana White apparently is still eager to be in the “Nick Diaz business”, indicating at a recent post-fight presser that he was still keen to have him fight again in the UFC’s octagon.
However, last week White shot down Diaz’s coach, Cesar Gracie’s claim that there was a specific fight offer on the table from the promotion.
Diaz last fought at UFC 158 in March, finally getting that title fight with GSP that he’d missed out on a couple of years previously. He lost by unanimous decision, leaving him 1-2 in his most recent spell in the UFC.
