Nick Diaz Will Compete Against Braulio Estima In BJJ Superfight

Last week we brought you the news that Nick Diaz would be competing in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu superfight at the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo 2012 on May 12th, and now we know his opponent.

It’s now been confirmed that he’s been matched up with BJJ star Braulio Estima, one of the elite competitors in the sport.

While Diaz ground skills are very well respected he’s going to have his work cut out for him against the formidable Brazilian who’s a two-time gold medalist at the prestigious ADCC championships as well as a multiple time gold medalist at the World, European, Pan-Am and European Championships.

Hats off to Diaz for accepting the match-up however, proving that he still has the competitive drive that lead to him becoming a Strikeforce champion and come within touching distance of a shot at the UFC’s welterweight title.

Meanwhile, Diaz future in MMA in the near future remains in doubt pending a hearing that will establish whether he will be suspended after testing positive for marijuana after his fight with Carlos Condit in february.
