Reports Suggest DREAM Are Planning A New Event This Summer

In somewhat surprising news it seems that Asian promotion DREAM aren’t dead in the water after all and are in fact planning a new event for this summer.

DREAM hasn’t had an event since December 31st’s ‘Fight For Japan’ show which was headlined by Fedor Emelianenko Vs Satoshi Ishii.

This time around it’s been confirmed that they are going to be putting on what’s likely to be 42 year-old Kazushi Sakuraba’s final MMA fight against Shinya Aoki.

Sakuraba normally fights at welterweight, but he’s been struggling to find a win at this late stage in his long and hard-fought career, losing his last four fights in a row.  Now it appears he’ll move down a division to face Aoki who is still DREAM’s lightweight champion.

Aoki last fought in April for the Bellator promotion, suffering a first round TKO defeat at the hands of current UFC target Eddie Alvarez.
