Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza’s next fight will be against Marvin Vettori at UFC 256 on December 12th.
Jacare had originally been scheduled to fight Uriah Hall upon the UFC’s return from the Covid-19 lockdown back in May, but then became the first UFC star to test positive for the virus during a pre-fight screening and had to withdraw.
Now fully recovered, Jacare will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing his light-heavyweight debut last time out against Jan Blachowicz, who has since gone on to lift the title in that division.
Worryingly for the 40-year-old he’s now lost four of his last six fights over the past three years, so this is a very important fight for him to prove he’s still a major player in the UFC ranks.
As for Vettori, he’s riding a three-fight winning streak heading into this encounter, having picked up unanimous decision victories over Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez, plus most recently a submission stoppage against Karl Roberson.
Jacare vs. Vettori joins a UFC 256 card that will feature a women’s featherweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson and also recently saw the addition of Mackenzie Dern vs. Virna Jandiroba, while a previously targeted main event welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns has been postponed until next year.
