There was an unexpected staredown following the UFC 205 weigh-ins yesterday in New York City, with returning superstar Ronda Rousey and woman’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes made their way to the stage to set eyes on each other for the first time ahead of their UFC 207 showdown in December.
“She’s the fight I asked for,” Nunes then told Joe Rogan. “I’ve been training for this girl my whole career [in the] UFC. Now I have my chance to defend my belt against her. It’s going to be amazing. Are you guys ready for this battle!!?!”
Rousey was also supposed to get on the mic, but as Nunes started to speak she suddenly turned and walked off the stage without having said a word.
During a recent interview on the ‘Ellen’ show, Rousey indicated that UFC 207 will be one of her last ever fights, which has led to some observers questioning whether her heart is still in MMA.
If it’s not then Nunes has the skill and ruthless finishing instincts to make her pay, but we’ll have to wait until December 30th to find out for sure.
