A lightweight fight between Ross Pearson and Abel Trujillo has been announced for UFC Fight Night 84 in Brisbane, Australia on March 19th.
Pearson will be yet again looking to return to wnning ways after coming up on the wrong end of a unanimous decision verdict against Francisco Trinaldo just a couple of weeks ago at UFC Fight Night 81.
The former TUF winner has been alternating between wins and losses for some time now, with a 3-3 record since June of 2014 leaving him treading water out of reach of the top 15 contenders on the official UFC rankings.
Trujillo got 2016 off to a good start with a first round submission win over Tony Sims at UFC 196. Prior to that he’d experienced back-to-back losses against Tony Ferguson and then Gleison Tibau, though he has appealed the latter of those as the referee appeared to stop the fight prematurely during a submission attempt in which he mistakenly thought Trujillo had tapped. Adding to the controversy, it also emerged later that Tibau had failed drug tests and so that result is likely to be amended to a no-contest.
Pearson Vs Trujillo joins a UFC Fight Night 84 card that’s set to be headlined by a heavyweight clash between Mark Hunt and Frank Mir with Hector Lombard Vs Neil Magny serving as the co-main event.
