Dana White may have had a well publicized fall-out with his famous father in the past week, but former Strikeforce fighter Ryan Couture still intends to go ahead with his UFC career and he’s just been handed his first assignment.
Couture will take on former TUF winner Ross Pearson in a lightweight bout at ‘UFC On Fuel TV 9’ in Sweden on April 6th.
That’s a big test for Couture who’s coming off a four-fight winning streak over at Strikeforce, though his split decision victory over KJ Noons back in January was highly controversial, with even the fighter himself appearing surprised to have been awarded the win.
Pearson returned to that 155lb division in December after a stint as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter: UK Vs Australia and claimed a dominant victory over George Sotiropoulos that took him to 5-2 in the UFC at that weight class.
Meanwhile, a further addition to the ‘UFC On Fuel TV 9’ card sees Matt Mitrione and Phillip De Fries collide in a heavyweight match-up.
The Swedish event will be headlined by an important light-heavyweight encounter between Alexander Gustafsson and Gegard Mousasi.
