Saidyokub Kakhramonov Submits Trevin Jones In Dying Seconds Of Fight At UFC ON ESPN 29

Saidyokub Kakhramonov left it until just 21 seconds before the end of his fight with Trevin Jones tonight at UFC On ESPN 29 before finally forcing his opponent to tap out via a guillotine choke.

Round One:

Head kick from Kakhramonov just grazes past Jones, who instantly locks up into the clinch. Kakhramonov manages to work a takedown of his own. There’s a scramble and Kakhramonov is now working a guillotine choke.

Jones stays calm and on the mat he’s able to gradually break free and drive back up to his feet and then press Kakhramonov into the cage.

Light punches to the head from both men. Solid knee to the leg from Jones. Kakhramonov able to turn into Jones now, but Jones does the same in reverse. Knees from Jones in the clinch.

Short knees from Kakhramonov and attempts to reverse the clinch again, but doesn’t succeed immediately, managing to get it at the second attempt. Not for long though as Jones gets back to the advantageous position.

Kakhramonov trying to sweep Jones to the mat a couple of times, but it doesn’t pay off as the round comes to a close.

Round Two:

Exchange of kicks. Front kick to the body from Kakhramonov. Jones working for a single leg here, but then settles for clinching against the cage. Kakhramonov able to turn and now it’s his turn to press against the fence.

They separate and go back to striking range. Kakhramonov landed a big punch and Jones seemed troubled by that, but is able to clinch and buy himself some time to recover.

Kakhramonov landing some solid strikes here in close as Jones is trying for a takedown. They break apart and Kakhramonov is immediately looking to land big strikes and Jones looks tentative here.

Again Jones tries to clinch as Kakhramonov is swinging for the fences. Good hook for him and at every opportunity Jones is trying to just hold on and slow down the striking action. Kakhramonov doesn’t want anything to do with that though and is looking for the finish.

However, Jones seems to find some energy and lands a crucial takedown. He takes his time and then works to take the back, then gets to full mount and lands some strikes before the round ends.

Round Three:

Inside leg kick from Jones. Heavy body kick from Kakhramonov. Right hook from Jones. Body kick again from Kakhramonov.

Jab for Jones. Outside leg kicks from Kakhramonov. Jones nicely ducks under a punch and clinches up while looking for a takedown.

Kakhramonov trying to defend this takedown attempt, goes to the floor for a moment, then pops straight back up, but Jones remains working the body lock.

Kakhramonov working hammerfists to the thigh. Jones stalling here and the ref’s starting to urge him to work. Jones tries to go for the takedown, but nothing doing.

Kakhramonov able to turn into the clinch. He gets a little space and tries to tee off, but Jones tries to shoot. He leaves his neck out though and Kakhramonov grabs onto a standing guillotine choke.

This choke looks tight and Jones suddenly slumps to the mat with the guillotine still behind cranked as the ref runs around to check if Jones is still conscious. He’s not and the fight is quickly brought to a close, with the ref having to catch Jones to stop him from flopping back onto the canvas as Kakhramonov reels away to celebrate at the 4.39min mark of the final round.
