Strikeforce: Frank Mir Vs Daniel Cormier Goes Down On November 3rd

The first (and possibly last) ever UFC-Strikeforce crossover fight between Frank Mir and Daniel Cormier will take place on November 3rd.

Strikeforce will host this intriguing heavyweight clash in Oklahoma with Showtime airing it live on TV.

Cormier is on a high after unexpectedly winning the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix recently, taking out Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva and Josh Barnett along the way, and whether he wins or loses against Mir in November he’ll then leave Strikeforce to join the UFC’s ranks.

If he can beat Mir, who challenged Junior Dos Santos for the UFC heavyweight title just a few months ago, then he could also put himself straight into title contention in the division.

On the other hand it’s a big risk for Mir to agree to this fight as there’s not a lot in it for him to gain, but he said in a recent interview that he was happy to take the fight as it was an interesting challenge for him at this stage in his career.

When news of this unexpected bout emerged a few weeks ago fans became excited by the prospect of crossover fights between the two promotions being a regular occurrence, but Dana White has since indicated that this is a one-off.

Ross launched MMA Insight (previously FightOfTheNight.com) in 2009 as a way to channel his passion for the sport of mixed martial arts. He's since penned countless news stories and live fight reports along with dozens of feature articles as the lead writer for the site, reaching millions of fans in the process.
