Despite having cancelled their last two events it appears that Strikeforce are not yet ready to throw in the towel as they are currently working on their first show for next year which will take place on January 12th and it appears they are gearing up for a stacked show as two current champions will fight on the card.
First up middleweight title holder Luke Rockhold will fight Lorenz Larkin, a match-up that had originally been scheduled to take place last weekend before the show was scrapped.
Meanwhile, newly crowned welterweight champ Nate Marquardt will make his first title defense against Tarec Saffiedine who’s on a three-fight winning streak in the division.
Strikeforce’s current deal with Showtime expires early next year so there is a chance this could be the last ever event from the promotion if the TV network opts not to take up it’s option to extend the deal for a further 12 months.
