The Korean Zombie Could Be Out For A Year After Double Surgery

Chan Sung Jung aka ‘The Korean Zombie’ paid a high price for his unsuccessful title shot against Jose Aldo earlier this month as he know faces a year out due to injuries he sustained during the fight.

The fight ended shortly after TKZ suffered a dislocated shoulder, but it later emerged that he also had a broken orbital bone. Both injuries required surgery and he now faces a lengthy spell on the treatment table.

“Most likely, he’ll be out a year,” TKZ’s manager Brian Rhee tells MMAfighting.com, “but that depends on how rehab goes.”

This is nothing new for the 26 year-old – he had to sit out for over 12 months in 2012 due to shoulder surgery following a victory over Dustin Poirier, but it’ll undoubtedly be very frustrating for him to again be kept out of the Octagon for such a long period of time.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
