Tito Ortiz To Fight Alberto El Patron At Combate Americas

Tito Ortiz is all set to fight again at 44-years-old after agreeing to go up against Alberto El Patron at a Combate Americas event on pay-per-view that’s scheduled for December 7th.

Ortiz last fought in November of last year under the Golden Boy MMA banner, when he finally avenged losses from yesteryear to his old rival Chuck Liddell, who had come out of retirement at 48-years-of-age, with a KO finish late in the opening round.

That was Ortiz’s second win in a row, having submitted Chael sonnen in the first round of his previous fight in 2017.

In total Ortiz has gone 4-1 since being released by the UFC back in 2012, with his other wins coming against Alexander Shlemenko and Stephan Bonnar in the Bellator promotion, while his sole loss was by submission against Liam McGeary in 2015.

Now Ortiz will go up against El Patron, who is also known as pro-wrestler Alberto Del Rio, who had two stints in the WWE.

However, El Patron has also competed in MMA over the years and holds a 9-5 record.

The 42-year-old started out in the DEEP promotion back in 2001 and then moved on to PRIDE, where he’d lose to both Mirko Cro Cop and Kazuhiro Nakamura.

El Patron would go on to compete mainly in his native Mexico after that, improving his record with six wins in a row, before a TKO loss to Yamamoto Hanshi appeared to bring his MMA career to an end.

However, nine years later he’s been lured out of retirement for this high-profile fight that will see Ortiz put up his UFC title belt and El Patron his WWE championship belt on the line.
