Tommy ‘Gun’ McMillen is only three fights into his UFC career, but apparently the highly regarded prospect is already stacking up some major money in his bank account.
“He’s making serious, serious money,” McMillen’s coach Tim Welch revealed on The Ariel Helwani Show yesterday. “Probably more money now than any UFC fighter after their third fight, probably ever. He’s in that bracket. It’s actually insane, and I’ve never seen something like it.”
Welch might be getting a little carried away there, but he is certain that the undefeated McMillen is making far more than his star pupil Sean O’Malley was at that early stage of his career.
“I mean after a third fight, way more. Way more,” Welch confirmed.
The 28-year-old McMillen has certainly made a big impression in the Octagon this year with his relentless striking aggression that’s led him to TKO victories over Manolo Zecchini and Alberto Montes, as well as a unanimous decision victory over Marwan Rahiki last time out that’s already considered a ‘Fight Of The Year’ candidate.
As for what comes next, Welch is open to McMillen being lined up against a ranked opponent next, but its far from a necessity for the time being.
“I wouldn’t mind that but I also wouldn’t mind him still fighting non-ranked guys and just stacking the cheddar,” Welch admitted. “When your brand deals are as big as his, it’s like, let him stack, baby.”
