UFC 190 Main Card Extended To Seven Fights To Include TUF Brazil Finals

mma and ufc news

In an unusual move the UFC has announced that the pay-per-view portion of UFC 190 on August 1st in Brazil will be extended to seven fights.

The extra two spots on the main card will be taken up by the two TUF: Brazil season 4 finals, a 135lb fight between Dileno Lopes and Reginaldo Vieira, plus a lightweight bout as Fernando Bruno takes on Glaico Franca, which were moved from this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 70 event in Florida due to there being technical issues at this moment in time issuing people with travel Visa’s in the United States.

The extended UFC 189 PPV card will still be headlined by a woman’s bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Ronda Rousey and her outspoken rival Bethe Correia who’ll be enjoying the home advantage for her title bid, while TUF: Brazil 4 coaches Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira remain in the co-main event slot for the evening for a rematch of their instant classic PRIDE fight back in June of 2005 in Japan.

In total the full fight card from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil will now have 13 bouts including four prelims that will air on FOX Sports 1 and a further two via the UFC’s own ‘Fight Pass’ subscription service.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
