UFC 208 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC 208 event in Brooklyn, New York the recipients of the $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a back and forth main card opener between Dustin Poirier and Jim Miller, which would go the full fifteen minutes.

Both men hurt each other the course of three rounds, but Poirier was landing the harder shots and was gaining the upperhand before he injured his right leg in the third and had to take the fight to the mat in order to ensure he came out on the winning side of a majority decision verdict.

In a somewhat surprising move the UFC only awarded one ‘Performance Of The Night’  bonus instead of the usual two, perhaps indicating that the brass weren’t best pleased with a largely underwhelming card that produced just one finish from 10 fights.

That finish belonged to Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza who was in fine form as he secured an early takedown against Tim Boetsch and then gradually moved himself into position to lock in a fight-ending kimura submission, making it look effortless, while ensuring he would be getting a performance bonus.
