Former TUF winner Diego Brandao has been released from the UFC after he managed to find himself in trouble both inside and outside of the Octagon in recent months.
The 28 year-old Brazilian suffered a submission loss at UFC 195 back in January, but then to make matters worse, a post-fight drug test discovered marijuana in his system.
That left him facing a year’s suspension from the sport, but at that stage it didn’t appear that the UFC were looking to release the fighter from his contract.
However, Brandao has since found himself in trouble with the law after he was alleged to have been involved in a violent altercation at a strip club in Albuquerque, New Mexico which saw him allegedly brandish a gun and physically attack several employees of the establishment, including hitting one over the head with his weapon.
Brandao was arrested the next day and charged with one count of aggravated battery and three counts of aggravated assault.
The UFC had initially released a statement noting their “concern’ regarding the fighters arrest, but it seems that they’ve since decided to just wash their hands of the matter entirely.
The troubled fighter produced a 5-4 record during his time in the UFC, and is 20-11 overall for his decade long run fighting professionally.
