The UFC today officially announced their next visit to the UK will take place on February 27th of next year in London.
“UFC and MMA have enjoyed a phenomenal level of success and growth across Europe in recent years and London remains a particularly important market for us,” said Vice President Of International at UFC, Joe Carr.
At this stage no fights or venue has been announced for the event, but UFC officials have indicated that UK stars like Michael Bisping and Ross Pearson have already expressed an interest in fighting on the card.
London was the first ever European city that the promotion visited all the way back in 2002 for UFC 38 when events outside the United States were still very much a rarity. In total there’s been seven events in England’s capital city with the most recent being UFC Fight Night 37: Gustafsson Vs Manuwa back in early 2014.
Traditionally the UK has been an important market for the UFC, though other countries like Brazil, Australia and even Ireland have muscled in on there turf in recent years as is evident by the fact that there was just one UFC event in the United Kingdom this year – the Octagon’s first visit to Scotland for UFC Fight Night 72 in July.
