Vicente Luque vs. Belal Muhammad Rematch Headlines UFC Fight Night 206

A welterweight rematch between rising contenders Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad will headline UFC Fight Night 206 on April 16th.

You’d have to go all the way back to 2016 to find the last time these two locked horns, and on that occasion it was Luque who emerged as the emphatic winner via knockout just 79 seconds into the bout.

Since then Luque has won 10 out of the 12 fights he’s been in, with all but one of those victories having come inside the distance by either strikes or submission.

That includes his current four-fight unbeaten stretch in which he’s TKO and KO’d Niko Price and Randy Brown respectively and then followed that up with back-to-back d’arce choke submission stoppages over Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa, rising up to No.4 on the 170lb rankings in the process.

Meanwhile, Muhammad has also been on a similarly impressive run, going 10-1 (+1nc) in the years since.

Muhammad can’t boast the same finishing record as Luque – in fact he’s only stopped one opponent during that time – but he has managed to best an increasingly strong level of opposition, including earning unanimous decision victories in his last two Octagon outings against former title contenders Damien Maia and Stephen Thompson in 2021.

Luque vs. Muhammad tops the bill at a UFC Fight Night 206 event that is still in the process of fleshing out it’s fight card and also doesn’t yet have a location confirmed.
