War Machine Out Of Bellator’s 8th Season Tourney Due To ACL Tear

Fresh out of jail, War Machine was set to get his MMA career back on track by appearing on Bellator’s eight season on Spike TV in January, but a serious injury has now ruled him out of the welterweight tournament.

“I guess the cat is out of the bag,” he said on Twitter last night. “2 weeks ago I tore my ACL and fractured my tibia. I will not be in @BellatorMMA next tourney on @SpikeTV.”

The news comes after Bellator revealed that after a fan vote recently, War Machine had been paired up against Paul Daley in the 170lb quarter-finals.

That would have been an extremely tough fight for War Machine after having spent most of the last two years behind bars, so in some respects it could be said that he’s dodged a bullet here.

However, he’s not quite off the hook yet.

“Since Paul Daley and I won the “Fan Vote Fight” @BellatorMMA will still honor the fans wishes and I will fight him once I am healed up,” War Machine said.

The good news for him is that his ACL is only partially torn so it appears he won’t require surgery for it which should reduce the amount of time before he’s able to get back into the cage.
