Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier engaged in an all-out brawl today at a media day for UFC 178.
The two rivals lost their cool during a staredown, with Jones initially appearing to bump heads with Cormier as the got a little too close for comfort. That resulted in Cormier then forcefully shoving Jones backwards with both hands up at his neck.
All hell broke lose from that moment as Jones dropped his light-heavyweight title and shoved unfortunate UFC employee Dave Sholler out of the way, causing him to fall backwards and knock down the backdrop that was serving as a makeshift stage for the occasion.
Jones threw a punch at Cormier, then another as some security guards attempted to keep them apart. It was complete chaos at this point and it’s hard to tell exactly what happened but Cormier appeared to fall off the stage, landing on a security guard.
There was a sea of bodies in there, but Jones was in amongst it all trying to hit Cormier who was now on his back attempting to return fire and grabbed on to him until officials and security eventually pulled the two apart, with Cormier aiming one last kick at Jones.
Jones then got back on stage and roared a few times, apparently feeling that he had got the better of the ugly exchange that could land both fighters in trouble, but will undoubtedly sell a boatload of tickets and pay-per-views for the event on September 27th.
Crazy scenes unlike anything we’ve ever seen before in the UFC and luckily there were cameras on scene so you can take a look at multiple angles of the incident below.
