Holando Silva, father of UFC star Wanderlei Silva died yesterday in Brazil after being involved in a head-on car crash.
Silva is currently on his way back to Brazil from Las Vegas to attend his father’s funeral, but he did post a message of thanks on Twitter to his fans for their well wishes at this difficult time.
“I haven’t the words to thank you all for your support. We end up not knowing what to do, but it’s at times like this that we know who is on our side. Thank you very much,” Silva wrote.
A twist in the tale is that just last week Silva’s official ‘WandFightTeam’ youtube page had posted up new mini-documentary following Silva as he visited his parents in Curatiba where he grew up.
Silva’s father features heavily in the video and it’s clear to see the tight-knit bond between them and how proud they were of each other.
