Last weekend Dana White hinted that Yair Rodriguez wouldn’t be fighting any time soon and now we know the reason why as it’s been announced that he has been suspended for six months after repeatedly being unavailable for USADA drug testing during the past year.
Rodriguez reportedly didn’t update his ‘walkout’ details during the year, which would have let USADA know where he was situated when they needed to administer his drug tests, and he wasn’t at any of the locations that he had previously registered with them.
As a result, on three separate occasions over the first three quarters of 2020, USADA were unable to locate Rodriguez for a test and so he’ll now have to spend a further six months on the sidelines whether he likes it or not.
Rodriguez last fought back in October of 2019, where he emerged with a unanimous decision victory in a rematch against Jeremy Stephens.
Overall Rodriguez has compiled an 8-1 (+1nc) record record during his time in the promotion and at his best was considered one of the most entertaining and exciting fighters to watch, as proven by frequently picking up ‘Fight Of The Night’ and ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses for his efforts in the Octagon.
