ONE FC women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee was involved in a serious car accident yesterday in Hawaii after falling asleep while travelling in her vehicle.
“ONE Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee got into a terrible car accident yesterday with her car flipping over 5-6x according to the police,” ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong revealed on Facebook. “She was driving to her morning training at the gym when she fell asleep. Miraculously, she survived with only a concussion, some minor burns, and a banged up body.
“If she was not wearing a seatbelt, it would have most certainly been a different story. I saw photos of the damaged car, and it was a complete wreck. Angela will not be competing on November 24. We are all blessed and relieved that Angela will make a full recovery.”
Lee is currently one of the biggest rising stars in women’s MMA and a key fighter for the ONE FC promotion, having amassed a perfect 8-0 record in the sport despite only being 21-years-old.
Lee’s parents are also both martial artists and they’ve certainly taught here well as her submission game in particular has impressed during her career to date, accounting for six of her victories to date, including a rare twister finish and an anaconda choke last time out.
