Tyrone Spong continues to successfully juggle both a career in MMA and kickboxing, earning a victory in the latter discipline at Glory 11 last night in Illinois.
Spong floored Nathan Corbett with a jack-hammer left hook to the jaw in the second round of the main event.
Corbett slowly got back to his feet to meet the count, but he still looked unsteady and the referee deemed him unfit to continue and waved the fight off.
The win was a big weight of Spong’s shoulders, claiming revenge for a previous encounter with Corbett four years ago when almost exactly the opposite happened, with Corbett dropping him and then the referee declaring Spong unfit to continue.
The difference on that occasion was that in a mooment of madness Corbett then stepped in and floored Spong again which resulted in the fight being declared a no-contest.
Spong always viewed it as a loss however, so he was no doubt delighted to even the score last night on Spike TV.
As a result, Spong improve his kickboxing career record to 73-6-1 (1nc), while his fledgling MMA career with World Series Of Fighting remains at 2-0.
