13 fighters have recently been removed from the UFC’s online roster, which is commonly regarded as a sign that they’ve been released by the promotion, and there’s some notable names on the list.
They include former featherweight title contender Tonya Evinger, who was the 145lb champ at Invica FC before she joined, but struggled to make an impact in the Octagon, losing to Cris Cyborg in her debut and then going on to suffer two more defeats after dropping to bantamweight.
A bigger surprise is that Mairbek Taisumov has been released. Although the Russian did lose his last fight against Carlos Diego Ferreira by decision, he had been on a six-fight winning streak prior to that.
Another established fighter heading out the exit door is Dong Hyun Ma, who has been with the UFC since 2015, but has experienced mixed fortunes, going 3-5 during that time.
