Alexander Gusafsson Calls Out Corey Anderson To Fight In UK

Alexander Gustafsson was defeated in his long awaited rematch with Jon Jones at UFC 232 in late December, but it seems that he’s eager to get straight back up on the saddle and he already has an opponent in mind – Corey Anderson.

“Corey everyone else at the top is taken, I am eager to get right back inside the cage and you just had a good fight with my brother, so I think it’s the perfect time for us to throw down,” Gustafsson wrote to Anderson on Twitter. “Let’s dance on the London card March 16th #ufclondon.”

By ‘my brother’ Gustafsson means his fellow Swedish fighter Ilir Latifi, who Anderson defeated by unanimous decision on the same card as his fight with Jones in California just a couple of weeks ago.

For Anderson that marked his third win in a row, having also earned decision victories over Patrick Cummins and Glover Teixeira in 2018. However, he will have less than fond memories of his last visit to London, having been KO’d by Jimi Manuwa in 2017 – a loss that was followed up by another knockout defeat against Ovince Saint Preux later that year.

As for Gustafsson, prior to his TKO loss to Jones he had picked up back-to-back wins over Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, which leaves him ranked No.2 in the 205lb division, four spots above the 6th ranked Anderson.
