Alexander Volkov got the better of the early striking battle with Jairzinho Rozenstruik tonight at UFC Fight Night 207, TKO’ing him in under half a round of the card’s headlining bout.

Round One:

The main event is underway in Las Vegas.

Leg kick and body kick from Volkov and Rozenstruik returns fire with a leg kick of his own.

Inside leg kick from Volkov. He tries for a head kick but doesn’t commit to it. Inside leg kick for Rozenstruik now.

Body punch from Volkov. Inside leg kick and now a body kick. Right hand now followed up by another kick. Again he lands a jab and a low kick.

Rozenstruik blocks a head kick and then throws a solid punch. Inside leg kick off a punch again from Volkov.

Rozenstruik catches a kick this time and connects with a punch, then starts swinging for the fences, but doesn’t quite find the target.

Volkov suddenly rocks Volkov with a big right hand and as he staggers back against the cage Volkov wades in with more big left and rights that further trouble Rozenstruik and also send his mouthpiece flying.

Rozenstruik starts to crumble against the cage and the ref steps in to wave off the fight at the 2.12min mark of the first round, just as Rozenstruik appeared to be breaking free from Volkov’s barrage of blows. however, there’s no doubt he had been rocked, so there’s not too many complaints about the stoppage.
